David, through the singing of psalms, and the other prophets through their declarations, prepared a place for the Lord, who is the genuine Solomon. They filled the hearts of their listeners with authentic faith and fervently encouraged them to accept the Son of God, who was destined to come in human form, with faith and reverence. It is appropriate that this place should be located on the threshing floor of Ornah, the Jebusite, for the Church is often referred to as a threshing floor, as John states concerning the Lord: “His shovel is in His hand, and He shall clear His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn” (Matthew 3:12).

Ornah, whose name signifies 'enlightened,' was a Gentile by heritage, indicating that these same Gentiles would receive enlightenment from the Lord and be transformed into the children of the Church. The apostle correctly states, “Ye were once darkness, but now are light in the Lord” (Eph. 5:8). Jebus is synonymous with Jerusalem; the term Jebus means 'trampled upon,' while Jerusalem signifies 'vision of peace.' During Ornah's reign, the city was referred to as Jebus; however, when David acquired the site for an altar there and Solomon erected a temple to the Lord, it was no longer known as Jebus, but as Jerusalem. When the Gentiles were unaware of God’s majesty, it was as if they were being trampled and ridiculed by unclean spirits, adhering to lifeless idols that led them astray. But upon witnessing the grace of their Creator, they found both a place and a new identity, as the Lord declares: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God” (Matt. 5:9). Thus, while Ornah ruled over the city, it retained the name Jebus; but when he sold the threshing floor along with the oxen and implements to King David, the city became known as Jerusalem. The stubborn Gentiles were made to feel worthless and scorned by the spirits of vice. Yet now, having learned to relinquish all they owned to the true King, they were no longer subject to the oppression of demons and vices, having recognized their connection to the divine reality they shared with their Creator.
