To ensure that you understand that this was addressed directly to the king and not as a means of boasting, he stated: ‘The Lord bears witness against you, and His anointed is also a witness. This is evidence of a clear conscience, for only someone completely unhinged would invoke God as a witness to their conscience unless they are entirely confident in their integrity.
