They ought to face condemnation for their abundance of servants. By shirking their own responsibilities and refusing to serve, they rely on their attendants. Thus, the Logos, speaking through the prophet Samuel against the wicked people, when they requested a king, promised not a benevolent ruler but warned them of a harsh and indulgent tyrant, declaring, “He will take your daughters to be perfumers, and to prepare meals, and to bake bread, and he will govern by the law of force instead of striving for a peaceful rule.”
