When Baasa prepared to attack and started fortifying Ramah to confront Jerusalem, Asa ought to have sought assistance from the One who had bestowed upon him numerous blessings to be his defender. Instead, he chose to appeal to the king of Syria for support, sending him a significant amount of gold from both the royal and divine treasures.
