What does it signify when it states, "over the plinth-like and over the strong?" The term "plinth-like" (πλινθίον) likely refers to what secular authors describe as an oblong quadrangle (πλαίσιον), representing a type of quadrangular military arrangement. Similarly, just as the Romans assign the command of the guards surrounding the king to the so-called magistrate, who oversees the shield-bearers and spear-bearers, Banea was charged with the protection of the king's bodyguards, while Joab had authority over the rest of the forces.
