John Chrysostom
Arioch quickly brought Daniel before the king, proclaiming, "I have discovered a man among the exiled sons of Judah who can interpret the dream for you." He identified Daniel without hesitation regarding his background. In times of hardship, concerns about origins fade away, and the pride often seen in prosperous situations is set aside. Just as a patient in illness pays no heed to the physician's lineage, nor does a person facing peril care whether their rescuer hails from nobility or servitude; their sole desire is salvation. Who would not feel a sense of shame, witnessing the demise of all the wise men of their homeland while captives are lifted up and honored? Yet, Daniel remained unfazed by this reality and was led to the king, who now approached the situation with a humility different from before.
