What is the significance of this celebration? Consider this: the Israelites were thankless to their Provider and quickly forgot His blessings. The evidence is clear: they left Egypt, traversed the Red Sea, witnessed its miraculous parting and closing, yet shortly after, they cried out to Aaron, "Make us gods to go before us" (Ex. 32:1). What do you have to say, you ungrateful Israelite? Having witnessed such astonishing acts, you forget the Lord who sustains you and overlook your Benefactor? Because of their ingratitude, God established feasts to ensure that His gifts would be perpetually remembered, compelling them to reflect on His provisions. Thus, they celebrated the Passover. Why?

So that when your child inquires, "What is this?" you can respond, explaining that it was by the blood of the lamb that the forefathers marked their doorposts, thus escaping the death that the destroyer inflicted upon the Egyptians. By this blood, the destroyer could not enter their homes and cause devastation.
