In Leviticus 1:16, it is noted that the ashes and entrails were cast to the eastern side of the altar (with the priest, as some believe, positioned on the southern side of the altar). Likely in this same area, specifically near the entrance to the tabernacle court on the east side of the altar, were all the implements used for the sacrifice. The bowls served the purpose of containing the wine libation and gathering the blood of the offering. The English translation uses the term fleshhooks instead of forks, while other translations consistently refer to them as forks.
