The mystery surrounding the origin of Moses is evident in the manner Scripture delineates his genealogy, commencing with Jacob's firstborn, Reuben, and then progressing to Simeon and Levi. It halts there, as Moses belongs to the line of Levi. The individuals previously mentioned are those noted among the seventy-five who accompanied Israel into Egypt (See Ex. 1:1-5 (LXX)). The Lord intended for the priesthood to arise not from the first or second tribes, but from the third, specifically the tribe of Levi.
