One Church Father comments on this verse

Clement of Rome

1st centuryChurch Father

"Promise me by the Lord that, just as I have shown you kindness, you will also be kind to my father's household and provide me with a reliable sign. The men assured her, ‘When the Lord gives us the land, we will act with compassion and truth towards you.’ The spies instructed Rahab, ‘It will happen just as you have said; when you hear of our arrival, gather everyone in your home, and they will be safe, but anyone outside will face destruction.’ In response, they instructed her to display a scarlet cord from her window, symbolizing that redemption would be offered to all who believed and placed their trust in God through the sacrifice of the Lamb. Notice, dear friends, that within this woman lay not only faith but also a prophetic vision."
