Upon discovering that she had passed away, the Levite placed her upon a donkey and returned to his home. There, he dismembered his concubine into twelve parts, sending each piece to the regions of Israel. In profound anguish, the people convened at Mizpah, and upon hearing of this heinous deed from the Levite, they were united in a desire for retribution, decreeing that no one should return to their tents until they had sought vengeance against those responsible for this atrocity.

The reverence our forebears held was profound, as evidenced by their decision to wage war over the mistreatment of a single woman by wicked individuals. After conquering the tribe of Benjamin, they vowed not to offer their daughters in marriage to them.
