The tale of Eglom reveals that the city known for its dates was Jericho. It is recorded that "Eglom went, and smote the children of Israel, and took the city of the dates." Shortly thereafter, it states, "Eglom turned from the idol which is in Galgaleh, and Aod said unto Eglom, I have a word with thee in secret, O king" (Judges 3:19). Notably, Galgaleh is in close proximity to Jericho.
