The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

"Let all their evil deeds be brought before You." You have witnessed and acknowledged my transgressions, now regard their wrongdoing as well. "And bring them to an end, just as You have brought an end to me because of all my sins; my cries are numerous, and my heart is filled with grief." The Syriac translator conveys the phrase "bring them to an end" as "crush them, just as You have crushed me." And so concludes the initial lament.
