Cyrill of Alexandria

Cyril suggests that, in a different context, the law regards an individual who comes into contact with a wild animal or any unclean creature as impure. He stated, "Of all four-footed creatures, those that walk on their paws are unclean for you: whoever touches their carcass will be unclean until evening; anyone who carries their carcass must wash their garments and will remain unclean until evening; they are unclean for you. And this is what is considered unclean among the creatures that crawl upon the ground: the mole, the mouse, the lizard and its species, the anaca, the chameleon, the leetaa, the hometa, and the tinshamet; these are all regarded as unclean for you among the creeping things: anyone who touches them when they are dead will be unclean until evening.

Furthermore, anything upon which one of them dies—any wooden container, garment, leather item, sack, or any object used for work—shall be deemed unclean: it must be immersed in water and will remain unclean until evening, after which it will be clean" (Lev. 11:27-32).
