John Chrysostom
When the Scriptures declare that Aaron has been designated, cleansed, sanctified, and reconciled, and now there is none of these elements—no sacrifice, no burnt offering, no libation of blood, nor anointing with oil; when there is no vision for the tabernacle, and the current Jewish priest does not remain for a prescribed period in the sanctuary, it becomes clear that he is neither complete nor pure, nor does he act in accordance with the law, nor does he uphold what is holy, nor does he appease God. If a priest cannot be established in any other manner, it is obvious that they lack true priesthood in the absence of these rituals. Thus, it is correct to assert that they have deviated significantly, not just from the truth, but from any resemblance of it.
