One Church Father comments on this verse

Ephraem the Syrian

4th centuryChurch Father

At times, the cloud above the Tabernacle lingered for extended periods, while at other times, it stayed for only a brief duration. The arrival and departure of the cloud signified how long the Israelites would remain in a given location. "In the second summer, on the tenth day of the second month, the cloud ascended from the tabernacle." This marked the first occasion that the cloud rose from the Tabernacle, as it moved from Sinai to Pharan.
