The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Gregory of Nyssa

4th centuryChurch Father

After having abandoned his father Kore, who in his arrogance rebelled against the priesthood, he faced a fiery punishment and was engulfed by the earth’s depths. Consequently, due to his transgressions, he descended into the realm of the dead. In contrast, the son of Kore embraces the true Father through faith, recognizing the profound distinction between being made a child of God and being labeled the son of the fallen Kore. The divine glory before God remains untainted by the sins of one’s ancestors.
