Once more, it is stated, "Simeon and Levi are brothers; their swords are instruments of violence. Let not my soul enter into their counsel, and may my glory not be united with their assembly, for in their anger they murdered a man and whimsically severed the veins of a bull. Cursed be their anger, for it is cruel; and their fury, for it is fierce" (Gen. 49:5-7). Through Simeon, with whom Levi is connected, the same Israel is indicated as prepared to act profanely and has persecuted the saints. As it is written, "which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute?" (Acts 7:52), this act is akin to spilling the blood of the young man, who is Christ.

Thus, the tribe of Judah is not the sole tribe found guilty of disrespect towards the saints and Christ; Levi, representing the sacred lineage, along with the scribes and Pharisees who gathered at the altar, joined in this offense. Consequently, Levi is also linked with Simeon in the prophecies spoken by the patriarch Jacob.
