The Scriptures reveal that Solomon succumbed to sin, and it is likely that he fell into a serious transgression, cautioning believers against misunderstanding the promise as applying to him. Driven by his affection for a woman, he constructed a temple to the idol Astarte, which provoked the Lord's wrath toward Solomon (cf. 3 Kings 11:7, 4-9).
