The practice within the Church on earth of calling upon the saints in Heaven during prayer is rooted in Holy Tradition, which finds its foundations in Holy Scripture as well. A notable instance of this is when the prophet David implores, ‘Lord God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel our fathers,’ thereby invoking the saints to bolster his supplication (1 Chron. 29:18).
