Why did Samuel provide Saul with multiple signs? He noticed Saul's uncertainty and his acknowledgment of his humble status. Saul expressed, “Am I not the son of a man of low standing from the tribe of Benjamin, and is not my family the least of all the families of Benjamin?” Thus, Samuel affirms Saul’s divine right to kingship by revealing prophetic words about various occurrences, including the very individuals who would inform him about the lost donkeys and those traveling to Bethel to worship the Lord.

He declared, “And they will ask you concerning the donkeys, and they will offer you provisions, and you will repay them.” Following this, Samuel predicts Saul’s encounter with a band of prophets, accompanied by those who celebrate through music like flutes, lyres, harps, and drums, and how the Spirit of God, which has been present, will inspire him to prophesy as well.
