The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

John Chrysostom

4th centuryChurch Father

Let us not let our fears arise from the prospect of harm inflicted by our adversaries, but rather from the risk of committing wrongdoing ourselves. If we remain steadfast in this commitment, we shall truly be free from harm, even when faced with countless threats. And what did that unfortunate soul, who contrived deceptions, ultimately achieve? Did he not forfeit his realm, endure a tragic end alongside his son, face universal condemnation, and, most devastating of all, now endure everlasting punishment?
