Those who worship idols, witnessing the might of Christ against their false deities, ultimately resist placing their faith in Him, fearing that such a commitment would require them to abandon their gods entirely. Likewise, those who identify as Christians but lack true faith realize that their cherished sins are prohibited by their belief in Christ. In response, they vigorously repel the very essence of faith, seeking to evade the fulfillment of their covenant and to indulge instead in the destructive passions that they prioritize over serving the Lord. The Azotians aptly embody their name, characterized by their inclination toward excess, wantonness, and unhealthy desires.

Their refusal to acknowledge the commandments found in Scripture renders them exempt from adherence, even if they have encountered those teachings. They fail to grasp the critical distinction between unintentional ignorance and the conscious choice to disregard what one has deliberately studied and is expected to understand.
