Moses indicates that the Lord, having promised to lead them to a land flowing with milk and honey, guided them despite their sinful nature. Even at that time, He intended to disperse them due to their stubbornness and rebellion, leaving only a faint trace of their existence among the nations, declaring, "for the embitterment of their enemies I give them this land, where I would dwell." Had they not been granted the promised land, they could claim that the Lord failed to fulfill His oath to their ancestors. "Now I will give the land, but they shall not dwell long." Blessed Abraham further signifies that their stay there will be brief, and during their subjugation to other nations, they will experience humiliation for their transgressions.
