God revitalized and restored the downtrodden spirit of Israel, enabling them to walk with their heads lifted high (Lev. 26:13). This act compelled them to consistently remember and keep His abundant blessings ever before their eyes. To ensure that the teachings of the law would penetrate their hearts more deeply and effectively, they were instructed to learn the law (Deuteronomy 5:1), to bind its words on their hands so that they would be firmly established before their eyes, and to inscribe them on the posts of their homes and on the fringes of their garments. In this way, the children of Israel were continually reminded of the tenets of their faith at every turn, receiving instruction wherever they went; only through carelessness could they remain unaware of their covenant, justifications, commandments, and judgments.
