In the introduction, we observed that Moses consistently portrayed himself in the Pentateuch with great humility, crediting solely the all-powerful hand of God for his actions and achievements. This humility shines through as the true authorship of the Sacred Chronicle, which was composed under Divine inspiration. However, in verse 3, we encounter an exception to this consistent approach, prompting the idea that the three verses separating the start of Moses' address to Pharaoh from its conclusion may have been later additions aimed at recalling previous narratives. It is also worth noting that Moses might have modestly included a reference to a significant fact, which sheds light on his demeanor toward Egypt as well as the reason the Egyptians bestowed their jewels upon the Israelites; they recognized the leader of Israel as one who wielded extraordinary power.
