The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

You have sacrificed your children, offering them to me after they were given to the idols. This act surpasses all your acts of fornication and wickedness. Indeed, the most vile and reprehensible of all is this unjust slaughter of innocents, which these brutal individuals committed, believing it would spare them from disaster. You have forgotten the days of your youth, when you were exposed and unlovely, wallowing in your own blood, and yet you survived. You did not recall those days of your early life, when you were vulnerable and unappealing, yet you lived and thrived.
