Theodoret of Cyrus
The prophet depicted Jechoniah, the son of Jehoiakim, as he refers to those who were taken captive and who faced their demise in a foreign land. This raises the question of why he did not refer to Jehoiakim, who was executed in Jerusalem. In doing so, he succinctly conveyed the wickedness of Jechoniah, who, during his brief reign of three months and a few days, filled the city with wrongful killings. It is clear that he is referring to Jechoniah rather than Jehoiakim, as indicated by the following text, for it is written:
