One Church Father comments on this verse

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

She observed her sister Oolibah and became even more engaged in her immoral actions than she was. The term "engaged" is interpreted by Aquila as "lust." You will increase your sexual immorality beyond that of your sister. The descendants of Assyria affected her, including the leaders and officials close to her, dressed in luxurious attire, along with the cavalry riding on horses, the select young men of the Jews. Jerusalem acted like Samaria and also broke her covenant with Me, choosing the gods of the Syrians instead; this was due to her reliance on their favor and disregard for My assistance. Through the presence of the leaders and officials, God revealed to them the approval that the Syrians had extended to them.
