You shall turn to your unfaithfulness and behold the men depicted on the wall, the images of the Chaldeans illustrated with colors and strokes, clothed in polished garments around their waists, with crowns painted upon their heads, all reflecting the likeness of Babylon and the Chaldeans, the heritage of their homeland. He gazed upon me with a penetrating look, revealing vividly the impotence of idols and showing that they are merely pigments, shapes, and artistic creations. The threefold portrayal signifies the variety of idols. However, Simmachus interpreted it as the appearance of thieves. God observes that, in your admiration of these figures, you see nothing beyond mere artistic representations, yet you are drawn to dwell among them. In this context, He highlights idolatry.

He sent envoys to the land of the Chaldeans. Then the sons of Babylon approached her on the bed of those who whirl and defiled her through their unfaithfulness, leading her to become tainted by their actions, causing her spirit to drift away from them. She, having reached out to them for aid and borrowed their wickedness in her mingling with them, ultimately separated from them once more. Here, God refers not to a detachment from the demons but from the Babylonians themselves; for Joachim, Jechoniah, and Zedekiah broke the covenants they had established with the Babylonians.
