Jerome of Stridon
In the regions beyond Judah, on the eastern side of the sea, there shall be a designated inheritance set apart, measuring twenty-five thousand reeds in width and of a length corresponding to each of the inheritances from the eastern border to the sea. In the center of this area, a sanctuary will be established. The portion designated for the Lord shall be twenty-five thousand reeds long and ten thousand reeds wide. It would be redundant to reiterate what has been previously stated, as if we have not mentioned these details before.

Following the boundaries of the seven tribes, there is a detailed account from east to west of the principality, spanning twenty-five thousand reeds in width and mirroring the length of each tribe from east to the sea, although the total length remains unspecified. Even in the descriptions assigned to each tribe, their dimensions are not detailed. However, if the breadth is established at twenty-five thousand reeds, we can reasonably infer that the length exceeds this, as it is typically the case that length surpasses breadth. At the center lies the sanctuary, set apart for the Lord, measuring twenty-five thousand reeds long and ten thousand reeds wide. Upon reading this, I cannot help but echo the sentiments of the apostle: "O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!" (Rom. 11:33). Additionally, as it is written elsewhere: "that you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God" (Eph. 3:18-19). The number twenty-five signifies the senses, referred to in Scripture with the notion of "you will have a divine feeling," while ten thousand represents complete and perfect virtue, which connects the tenth commandment of the Old Testament to the Gospel sacrament. We have briefly mentioned this before and will partially recall it here. For when one achieves progression from one through four, they arrive at the total of ten, illustrating how the Old Testament is fulfilled through the New, and the New enriched by the Old.
