Speech arises from inanimate objects to address those endowed with reason, warning that the empty offerings of idols will lead to spiritual death, and the altars of false gods—mere remnants of humanity—serve as a reminder that the worship of demons brings no true benefit. In their times of trouble, they found no solace from these false deities. Cities will be left in ruins, and high places will be destroyed; your desires will be left unfulfilled and scorned, resulting in their inevitable decline. The proclamation will be disregarded, with one translation suggesting it will result in desolation. Your idols will come to an end, and your false gods will be cast aside, while your deeds will be consumed.
