It is frequently noted that the silver, gold, and vessels dispatched from Babylon to Jerusalem symbolize the souls that have turned to the Lord, emerging from the chaos and sins of this earthly existence. Hence, it was essential for Ezra to assign such sacred vessels to the priests, so they could transport them to Jerusalem. All who desire to join the communion of the holy Church must undergo baptism and dedicate themselves to the Lord through the laying on of hands by the priests. Similarly, those who have strayed from the Church's brotherhood due to sin, and are ensnared in the clutches of the enemy, having fallen into captivity represented by Babylon, need to be restored to the holy Church through repentance facilitated by its ministers. It was fitting that twelve priests were entrusted with this ministry, mirroring the twelve apostles, whose teachings laid the foundation of the Church across the globe and continue to nurture its growth until the end of time.
