John Chrysostom

Observe how the God of love, in His human form, desired to fulfill righteousness in every respect.

Jerome of Stridon

Rather than using arbee (אַרְבַּ֑ע), the Seventy render it as ‘plain,’ even though Hebron is located on elevated terrain. This city is also referred to as mambre (מַמְרֵ֖א), a name it has held since antiquity in commemoration of Abraham’s ally.
