When the master heard these words, it is noted that this refers not to Genesis 40:1, but rather to Genesis 39:19. Which words are we speaking of? These are the accounts of how Joseph was falsely accused and unjustly sentenced to imprisonment in the dungeon. Furthermore, we have come to understand that the Lord was with him, granting him favor in the sight of the prison warden, who placed full oversight of the prison's operations in his hands. ‘Following this event,’ after Joseph was imprisoned, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker were also found guilty of an offense and sentenced by the king to the same prison. It is noteworthy how the events unfolded in a manner that would fulfill God's plans concerning Joseph.

Having demonstrated remarkable integrity by resisting the advances of the lewd Egyptian woman, Joseph found himself confined, yet it was divinely orchestrated that Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker would be incarcerated alongside him. Through the interpretation of dreams, they would come to recognize the wisdom of Joseph, who, in due course, would be remembered and revealed to all.

What can I express about these influential figures? They ought to demonstrate to other rulers that their authority is both fragile and uncertain, and that the king's favor represents the sole source of hope for those who face grave peril from even the slightest misjudgment, where the assurance of prosperity entails a minor service. One claimed to be the chief cupbearer, while another asserted his role as the chief baker. Both individuals made an error and were imprisoned, where the warden entrusted them to St. Joseph.
