John Chrysostom
A message arrived at Pharaoh's palace, and it brought joy to Pharaoh and all those in his household. Joseph’s reunion with his brothers brought happiness to everyone.
And it was heard, and the fame was spread abroad in the king's court: The brethren of Joseph are come; and Pharao with all his family was glad.

After their discussion concluded at the closed door of the house, the nobles and commanders of the army entered with joyful expressions, pleasing both Pharaoh and his officials. They realized with assurance that no servant was deemed a father to Pharaoh or lord over all the free men and nobles in Egypt, except for the son of the free men from the blessed lineage of Abraham's household.
What accounts for this compassionate attitude toward outsiders, if not the revelation of a profound mystery? The Church no longer expresses animosity when the Jews come to salvation; instead, the Christian community celebrates this growth. In every way possible, it offers support and sends individuals to proclaim the kingdom of God, so that they may be called sooner.
This pleased Pharaoh and his attendants, and it likely brought joy to the Egyptians as they had the chance to express their gratitude to Joseph for rescuing Egypt through the deliverance of his family.
A proclamation was heard in the palace of Pharaoh, and soon Joseph would reveal to Pharaoh his encounter with his siblings; however, news of this had somehow reached the royal court beforehand. Pharaoh was filled with joy, partially due to his deep regard for Joseph, to whom he was greatly indebted, and perhaps also because he assessed Joseph's brothers based on Joseph's qualities, anticipating that they might prove to be as loyal and valuable as Joseph had been. This joy was also felt by his attendants, the members of his court.
