Regarding the discrepancies in numbers observed between the Hebrew texts and our own versions, these differences do not undermine the lengthy lifespans of the ancients. If the variations are such that it becomes impossible to validate both as authoritative, we must seek the truth within the original language from which our translation derives. This exploration is accessible to anyone who is inclined to pursue it. However, this does not grant permission to adjust the Septuagint in accordance with the Jewish texts where they diverge, as such differences should not be classified as errors.

In instances where there are no textual inaccuracies and where the meaning aligns with and anticipates the ultimate truth, we ought to assume that the translators of the Septuagint expressed themselves differently from the Hebrew texts, not merely as translators, but with the prophetic freedom distinctive to them.

If we were to imagine having lived for nine centuries, akin to how humanity existed prior to the deluge, and were then granted the lifespan of Methuselah, the extensive past would become insignificant as soon as it came to an end. For both an individual who has experienced ten years and one who has experienced a millennium face the same conclusion in life and the unavoidable reality of death. The only distinction lies in that the elder leaves this world bearing a greater weight of transgressions.
