John Chrysostom

4th centuryChurch Father

And I will reveal your shame. You have shown me the way. I long for affection, yet you reject love. Thus, I will respond like a jealous husband unwilling to chastise his wife for her disrespect, finding it hard to endure the situation with patience; he employs harsh words in confronting her, seeking to convey his frustration; ultimately surrendering to love, he refrains from punishment and limits himself to verbal rebukes; in a similar manner, so does God.

Nilus of Sinai

5th centuryChurch Father

Are you inquiring about the message from God through the Prophet, ‘I will bare thy thighs against thy face, and thy shame shall be revealed’ (Jeremiah 13:26)? This indicates that in this profound and fearsome judgment, all the wicked actions you have committed will be laid bare before you. You will experience shame, fear, and trembling as you confront and acknowledge these deeds.
