The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Philaret of Moscow (Drosdow)

19th centuryChurch Father

If someone seeks to conceal themselves in secret locations, am I not aware of their presence? The Lord declares... My gaze is upon all their actions; their sins are not concealed from My view, nor are their transgressions hidden from My sight (Jeremiah 23:24, Jeremiah 16:17). Nothing escapes the all-knowing nature of God! Sin committed in private is chastised by God and punished publicly, as illustrated powerfully in the case of Ahar.
