And Achan answered Joshua, and said to him: Indeed I have sinned against the Lord, the God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done.

2 Church Fathers comment on this verse
He disclosed everything, realizing that the one who highlighted it was truthful, and the Testifier who corrected him was powerful. Conversations on the words of Isaiah 6:1
Humanity has long had a tendency to glorify wealth, such that a person is often deemed worthy of esteem only if they possess riches. This issue is not a recent development; rather, it has dwelled in the hearts of individuals for ages. When the walls of Jericho collapsed at the sound of the priests' trumpets and Joshua triumphed, he recognized that his people’s bravery was diminished by their greed and desire for material wealth. Achan, who from the ruins of the city took a beautiful garment from Shinar, two hundred shekels of silver, and a gold ingot weighing fifty shekels (Num. 7:21), was summoned before the Lord, where he could not hide his wrongdoing and ultimately confessed his sin.
