Ambrose of Milan
Samson presented a riddle to the young men who were dining with him. To establish the terms of the challenge, he set aside thirty sets of garments and as many precious tunics, corresponding to the number of feasting men. These items served both as incentives for those who could solve the riddle and as a penalty for those who could not.
