Ambrose of Milan

4th centuryChurch Father

She, perhaps in confusion or due to a woman's gentle nature, began to voice her grievances to her husband, suggesting that he conceals deep resentment beneath a facade of affection. As his lifelong companion and partner, she feels excluded from his inner thoughts, placed on the same level as those who are unable to comprehend the truth of his feelings: You do not love me and harbor hatred if you choose to keep this concealed.
