Upon hearing this from Delilah, the Philistines captured Samson while he was asleep, restraining him with cords made of vines. However, when they abruptly roused him, they realized that his inherent and distinctive strength remained intact. He shattered his restraints, and the valor that had been liberated drove back and defeated numerous foes.
