Ephraem the Syrian

A man whose pilgrimage is disrupted is one who hides goodness within his spirit, hindering its ability to bear fruit through inaction; indeed, those whose journeys are interrupted cannot produce offspring, in accordance with God's ordinance. When one is described as being torn apart, it indicates a person who has rejected and dismissed the vitality of doctrine and spiritual endeavors, opting instead for a life of idleness and complacency. The phrase "to him who is broken" refers to an individual who has compromised the emergence of righteous and virtuous thoughts within himself. When he attempts to engage in work, he lacks the strength to bring his intentions to completion and fails to act on them in reality.

Theodoret of Cyrus

5th centuryChurch Father

Disguised as minor flaws, it prohibits random defects. One specific rule states that it is not permitted to present an animal that has a 'yatra' that is severed or damaged, as those who are devoted to the service of God must be able to yield the rewards of righteous deeds.
