The twelve loaves on the table of the tabernacle symbolize the twelve apostles and all who adhere to their teachings within the Church. These individuals continuously nourish the people of God with the sustenance of the Word, much like the loaves of offering that remain present at the Lord's Supper until the culmination of time. It is also specified that these loaves must be made from unblemished flour, highlighting that those who proclaim the message of life to others must first exhibit the fruits of righteousness in their own lives. Their preaching should not only be persuasive but also demonstrated by their actions, echoing Christ's words: "If a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone" (John 12:24).

Furthermore, the arrangement of the loaves in two rows of six symbolizes unity, reflecting a spirit of love and fellowship, reminiscent of how the Lord sent His disciples to preach in pairs (see Mark 6:7). This conveys that the holy teachers of the Church are united in love and conviction, embodying the steadfast truth.

It is clear that the number of twelve loaves signifies the circle of apostles whom the Lord, in His incarnation, selected first. Through their ministry, He provided spiritual sustenance to all nations. During a time of hunger in the wilderness, He instructed His disciples—our apostles—saying, "Ye shall give them to eat" (Matt. 14:16). After feeding the five thousand with five loaves, they collected twelve baskets of leftovers (see Matt. 14:20-21). This undoubtedly illustrates the mission of the apostles and apostolic figures to gather those teachings of Scripture that are too great for the people to bear alone.
