Theodoret of Cyrus
Recognizing that some individuals might begin to upset the debtors due to the imminent year of release, He prohibited such actions. To alleviate their concerns regarding essential nourishment, especially since they would not till the fields during the year of release, He reassured them with abundant promises. He vowed that by the sixth summer, they would receive a twofold or even threefold return, ample not only to sustain them during the sixth and seventh summers but also sufficiently to provide for the eighth year. For it is written, ‘You shall sow in the summer of the autumn, and you shall bear of the fruit of old, even unto the summer of the ninth year: till the fruit of it be ripe, you shall bear of the fruit of old.’
