The Church Fathers on this verse

One Church Father comments on this verse

Cyrill of Alexandria

5th centuryChurch Father

Cyril supports the idea of offering a sacrifice of praise and provides guidance on how it should be presented. He states that this is the instruction regarding the peace-offering made to the Lord: If someone presents it in gratitude, they must bring unleavened loaves mixed with oil, unleavened cakes that are also anointed with oil, and flour made from wheat which is likewise anointed with oil, along with loaves mixed with oil. Additionally, they should include leavened bread as part of their offering in the peace-offering of thanksgiving. From all these offerings, one portion must be given to the Lord, belonging to the priest who sprinkles the blood of the peace-offering. The flesh from the peace-offering of thanksgiving is to be consumed on the same day it is offered and should not remain until morning (Lev. 7:11-15).
