Ephraem the Syrian
Moses chose not to bestow the priesthood upon his sons to prevent their elevation and to avoid discontent among the people, similar to how the Israelites later complained against the sons of Samuel and sought a king. Additionally, since their mother was not of Hebrew descent, and considering that Moses was appointed by God and transcended earthly matters, he refrained from giving his sons the priestly office.
