Beda Venerabilis
We ought to continually observe a spiritual Sabbath, consistently refraining from the labor of sin and taking moments to reflect on the truth that the Lord is indeed God. This practice is essential so that, having rest from the burdens of our conscience, we may partake in the eternal Sabbath of glory in heaven. However, outside influences attempt to taint the sanctity of our Sabbath by presenting us with various temptations on this sacred day, as unclean spirits strive to mar our hearts' purity. The moment we consent, we are drawn into sinful temptations that tarnish this most holy day, obscuring the brilliance of our noble intentions with the sins they introduce.

We must utterly expel such distractions from the confines of our spiritual stronghold, safeguarding our souls through a more virtuous way of life.
The matters discussed in this chapter pertain to the devotion to the Lord's house, its servants, and their sacred duties. We are called to adopt such a devout order today in a spiritual manner. Initially, the descendants of those in exile were purified from the impurities brought by the nations, then they were consecrated through the observance of the Sabbath, one of the foremost commandments in the law (cf. Ex. 20:8). Only after this purification did they turn their focus to the appropriate worship of God in other aspects; we too must first rid ourselves of wickedness before we can adorn ourselves with righteous deeds. It would require significant time to explore in detail how we should fulfill all that pertains to the worship of God in a spiritual sense, and it's more fitting to engage with this in the context of the scriptural law itself.
