Ambrose of Milan

4th centuryChurch Father

He beautifully expresses, "My soul has appointed me as the charioteer of Amminadab," which signifies the progenitor of the people. This progenitor, in turn, is also the ancestor of Naasson, interpreted as 'the serpent.' Observe who, like the serpent, was crucified for the salvation of all, and you will comprehend that it is the soul that God the Father favors and Christ guides, which is truly serene.

19th centuryCommentator

Naasson is a direct ancestor of David, as noted in 1 Chronicles 2:11-15. His sister Elizabeth was married to Aaron, as seen in Exodus 6:23. The lineage leading to our Lord Jesus Christ includes Naasson, Salmon, Boaz, Obed, Jesse, and David.
